This year, I’ve joined 19 other fantastic photographers to do a year long journey–the Fifty Two on Friday. You can see last week’s post here.
The topic this week is Friendship. This little guy below is my very best friend–and has been since I was 15 years old. My grandmother bought me this dog after seeing an episode of a talk show (probably Maury) where teenagers had babies to have someone to love them. I had been going through a rough time in my life, and was living with my grandmother at the time, so she decided to buy me a dog so I wouldn’t go out and try to have a baby (she’s so cute). So she bought me this little guy, a tiny 3 pound Toy Pomeranian. You can imagine how adorable he was as his 13oz puppy self–there is no cuter puppy than a Pom puppy. His name is Mackenzie, but we call him Mickey for short. He was my best friend, and still to this day is. No one is happier to see me at the end of a long day than this guy. In fact as I type this, he is laying in my lap. He’s never far from my feet when I’m home. He’s getting older, and is now nearly deaf. He can’t see well anymore as he has cataracts on both eyes. He has arthritis in his rear legs, making standing up tough for him. I don’t know what I’m going to do when he leaves me, because I’ve never had a truer friend than Mackenzie.
